Old Coins - Where to Find

A coins collecting becomes a serious hobby for a lot of people nowadays. They collect new or old coins. It’s a very interesting thing. But it becomes two or three times as much interesting if it allows you to earn good money.

Here we will try to describe best places to look for old coins.

Attend coin shows

Shopping malls in your locality may put up coin shows now and then. A visit to such shows could be very useful. You would be able see a good collection of old and rare coins on display and get a lot of information about them. You may also be allowed to buy some coins at a good price because competition is fairly intense.

You should also find new coins exhibited at these shows. You would do well to buy some of these to add to your coin collection and enlarge it. Coin shows offer an excellent source for buyers, and a great chance for collectors to showcase their hobby. It also offers the enthusiasts the enjoyment of seeing a good collection of coins, and
the opportunity to feast their eyes on rare coins that they had only heard about but never actually seen.

Coin shops

There are several shops whose owners deal with coins and have a fund of information about the rarity and value of old coins. Coin shops buy and sell coins. They can tell you everything you need to know about collecting rare and valuable coins. Of course, these coin shops will be expensive places to do business, because the owners want to make substantial profits on the sale of old coins. However, you may be able to buy reasonably priced rare coins at a coin shop if you do a bit of research and arm yourself with sound knowledge about the coins that you are looking for, or take an expert along with you when you go.

Online shops

The internet will open up for you a worldwide market in coins. You only have to browse the Internet to find numerous websites created for collectors, buyers and sellers of coins, located all over the world. But before you deal with any of these, you should first do a bit of research on their dependability. You should read about their terms and policies with regards to refunding money if there should be a problem with the coin you buy from them.

There are many online shops that are just scams out to get money from gullible people. So, make sure that you look up reviews about the website that you are interested in and also get feedback from people who have previously done business with the site. You should never, on any account, give the dealer your password or pin number.

Collector-numismatist community.

You can buy or sell antique old coins by addressing to numismatist community. These people know everything about antique coins: creating or coining history, alloys, which this coin is made of, image description etc.

Exchange with other collectors

One more variant - to exchange coins with other numismatist. Collectors usually exchange ancient coins of same nominal or equal cost if someone has duplicate specimens.
